State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has informed Parliament that 880 Ugandans have been evacuated from South Africa, with 250 more arriving following xenophobic attacks that killed three citizens. While Opposition MP Joan Alobo demanded financial compensation for the returnees' lost businesses, Minister Kasolo explained that the evacuees are receiving trauma therapy at NALI Kyankwanzi while awaiting an audience with President Museveni.

Local Government Minister Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi has received hundreds of xenophobia survivors at NALI Kyankwanzi for a mandatory two-week patriotism course. The returnees, who include opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters, form part of a third cohort of 255 Ugandans safely evacuated from South Africa through a joint diplomatic and military operation.
